Rail/Rubgy Nuneaton

TFL has been awarded by Network Rail + Unipart Rail
the contract to design, manufacture, and integrate (first fix) test and supply location cases and REB's for the Rugby and Nuneaton Resignalling Project. It was essential to choose suppliers who will effectively deliver the programme on time and to cost. The primary reason for the project is to improve line speed, performance and capacity and the replacement of life-expired equipment with modern equivalent form. This encompasses the replacement of circa 240 signals over 30 miles of track.
The RuN project is part of a 6 billion Network Rail project to resignal the West Coast Main Line. Atkins is the signalling contractor for the project and facilitates the design, installation and testing of all the new signalling equipment. The preparation for the project started early in 2007 and will be completed in December 2008. Tyrone Fabrication Ltd is supplying a range of materials for the project including:

  • 27no REBs
  • 200no Signalling location cases
  • 72no FTN Cabinets
  • 28no RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE

The Location Cases and REBs are manufactured at Tyrone Fabrication Ltd's
facilities in Co. Tyrone, delivering the completed units to the project in a phased programme to fit with the sophisticated integration and installation works. As the location cases and REBs are supplied integrated with domestic wiring and air-conditioning, the installation process can be efficiently completed in an ever-decreasing timescale through flexible working to meet with project requirements. The Rugby and Nuneaton Project is part of Network Rail's broader programme of resignalling works, which will help to improve the performance, safety and cost efficiency of the railway infrastructure.
